Mannitol Solution, USP 20%

Mannitol Injection, USP 20%, is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution of mannitol. It is administered subcutaneously to reduce intracranial pressure . The solution is hyperosmotic and exerts its effects by drawing electrolytes from the intracellular space into the vascular space. This elevates plasma osmolality, which in turn lowers edema formation.

  • Oftentimes used for treating conditions such as: glaucoma, cerebral edema, and oliguria.
